Earlier this week I shared my Top 10 Books of 2009, admitting that they are mine and mine alone. Same goes for this list of my Bottom 10 Books of 2009 -- until I have a deputy editor, several more assistant editors (there's only one so far!), a passel of interns, and a partridge in a pear tree to top it all off, that's the way it will be.

The phenomenal 2008 success of Swedish author Stieg Larsson’s “The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo” led to a 300,000 copy print run for Larsson’s second book in his “Millennium Trilogy,” “The Girl Who Played with Fire.” Building on the success of each previous book is important to the novels in this small group, because there may never be any others from this author. Larsson, a well-known Swedish magazine editor and political activist, died prematurely of a heart attack in 2004.

Literature Map
On the Literature Map, the closer two authors are located next to each other, the more likely that a person will like both of them. The map is experimental and based on the input of users. (We think it's kind of neat!)
