We've got five copies of Barry Eisler's sexy thriller Fault Line to give away today; If you've never read an Eisler book, let me assure you that these are novels you can put in your beach bag whether you're a man or a woman. Is this the "next wave" for thrillers -- books that aren't Just for Men or Just for Women? I'm not sure, but here's the question to answer by June 12 if you'd like to be a randomly selected winner:
Which author do you think is best for guys and dolls both?

Murder/mystery author T.
Murder/mystery author T. Jefferon Parker since both my husband and I (and my teenage daughter) enjoy his novels.
I would imagine that many
I would imagine that many people are interested in reading different genres, but personally for action/adventure I would say Tom Clancy and for fantasy David Eddings and Terry Brooks. I am lookingforward to reading some of Barry's works.
Cheers!
I'm a longtime member of a
I'm a longtime member of a Dick Francis group on Yahoo, and I'd have to say from the mixed group we have over there that he appeals equally to men and women. While he's never had a female protagonist, his women are strong, well-drawn characters in their own right, and his heroes are real people, easy to imagine as friends or mates. I've heard any number of people in the group say the same thing, basically--that his books have taught them everyone has a hero inside them. That's something that's good to know no matter what sex you are.
I have to say Henning Mankell
I have to say Henning Mankell because his books are full of action, suspense, thought and well-developed characters.
His books are full of action,
His books are full of action, thoughts, and with highly developed symbolism
Fault Line
David Baldacci is always a good choice for either a man or a woman. I always enjoy his books and I have a friend whose husband devours David's novels.
All good suggestions - I
All good suggestions - I would add Greg Rucka to the mix.
I think that Michael
I think that Michael Crichton's books have been enjoyed equally by both sexes.
Okay, this is going to sound
Okay, this is going to sound really goofy, and he didn't write books, but the only author I can think of that my husband and I seem to like equally is Shakespeare. (You didn't say the authors have to be living, did you?)
I think that the Travis McGee
I think that the Travis McGee series by John D. MacDonald is a great read for both guys and girls.
I've never read Barry. I
I've never read Barry. I think James Patterson and Clive Clusser appeal to both women and men.
I love Barry's books. Two
I love Barry's books. Two other authors I think appeal to both men and women are Lee Child and Stephen King.
I have never read Barry's
I have never read Barry's books, but my DH and I read all Tom Clancy, Dean Koonts, James Patterson and even Nicholas Sparks books together. So, I definitely need Barry's book!
unisex books!
Barry Eisler of course!
But if you can't find one of his, try James Patterson, Robert B. Parker, the late, great Tony Hillerman and Greg Illes.
Barry would be one of my top
Barry would be one of my top choices for both guys and girls. His females tend to be strong (as Delilah proves to be).
Robert Crais is another guy/girls author.
Janet Evanovich's Stephanie Plum series is very good I think both guys and girls can like.
Which author do you think is best for guys and dolls both?
Not counting Barry Eisler, which is an obvious choice since my husband and I both read him. My pick would be another author my husband and I both read...Tony Hillerman.
Books for men and women
I think it must be Alexander McCall and all of the ladies detective agency books - they are truly enjoyed by everyone...
Guys and Dolls
The first name that leapt to mind is the horror master, Stephen King.
Robert Crais has already been
Robert Crais has already been mentioned, so I'll addd Lee Child. Everyone I know, men and women alike, loves Jack Reacher.
Great interview!
Not counting Barry, I'd go
Not counting Barry, I'd go with Robert Crais. My husband and I both love his books.
Thanks, Bethanne
Thanks again, Bethanne, that was a fun interview! Hope all's well and that we'll have another chance for the next one.
Cheers,
Barry
Good for Guys and Dolls
My recommendation - crime fiction writer Robert B. Parker.
