Space Travel

Good question. My son wanted to be an astronaut but he wears glasses so that was out. He even went to Space Camp in Alabama. He did the next best thing and became a wonderful science teacher!! Every time I hear about space travel I wonder if I could ever have the courage to be a trekkie. What I've decided is that I would only do it if my family could come with me. I would be scared to death in the beginning but, as with everythin in life, given enough time you can get used to almost anything!!

Interesting question.  To be

Interesting question.  To be honest, I have never really thought about it.

I would have to say maybe.  I realize it's a once in a lifetime opportunity.

I would love to travel to outerspace and hope to in my lifetime!

I would definitely want to win this book for my son ~ so he can know the dream and hope that he can accomplish whatever he can dream!

I think that

I would pass on that one.  Space doesn't strike me as a very exciting place to be.  Maybe after they develop it more! :-)

High Flight

Yes, I would, even as the nearly old man of 60 that I am today.  I have had this dream since the age of 12.  A dream burned into my memory by John Glenn and relived 37 years later by the same man.  I unfortunately never realized my dream except as a Naval Aircrewman, but I've never forgotten it and this dream is best explained by these words:

High Flight

Oh, I have slipped the surly bonds of earth
And danced the skies
On laughter-silvered wings.
Sunward I’ve climbed and joined
The tumbling mirth
Of sunsplit clouds and done a hundred things
You have not dreamed of~
Wheeled and soared and swung
High in the sunlit silence. Hovring there,
I’ve chased the shouting wind along and flung
My eager craft through footless halls of air.
Up, up the long delirious burning blue~
I’ve topped the windswept heights
with easy grace
Where never lark, or even eagle flew.
And while with silent, lifting mind I’ve trod
The high untrespassed sanctitiy of space~
Put out my hand and touched the face of God.

Space - the Final Frontier

Since I get a bit nervous standing on a stepstool, I don't think I'd be a good candidate for space exploration -- however, my husband has threatened to send me "To the Moon, Alice!"  Does that count?    He'd go in a heartbeat......

Absolutely. I'd love to see

Absolutely. I'd love to see the view of our planet from outer space for myself.

Space

I would love to travel to outer space. I had wanted to be an astronaut but the requirements were too difficult.

White knuckles galore (Re: Look to the Stars)

I don't think I could do space travel unless we reach Star Trek type technology. I grip the arm rests so hard on take off and landings in airplanes that my knuckles are so white! I can't imagine take off in a shuttle or rocket.

Travel to Outer Space

Absolutely!  I haven't been everywhere I want to go on this planet yet, but that wouldn't stop me.

Travel to Outer Space

Although I am fascinated with astronomy and space flight, I am probably not a good candidate to go on a space flight.  I am not keen even going on roller coasters, so I don't think I would enjoy the acceleration, deceleration, and zero gravity of space flight.  I will have to settle for the photos sent back by manned and unmanned missions, and the view of the sky from a dark country location here on Earth.

Look to the Stars - Why just look ? Let's go there !!

Yes, most definitely.  Sign me up yesterday.  We stopped reaching for the stars after the Apollo program, and it has been one of the worst lost opportunities that humankind ever let fall through the cracks.  When I saw pictures of humans walking on the surface of the moon, I figured we would be walking on the planet Mars by now.  Was I ever so wrong!  Some time in the far distant future, traveling into space might become a common occurrence.  Alas, I will not be around to experience it.  Hopefully, some inspired generation in the future will pick up the challenge, realize the vision, and continue the adventure.

Seeing Stars

Yes! We traveled to the Kennedy Space Center recently to experience a shuttle launch and it was thrillling - would love to have an "above-ground" experience, too!

Space Travel

I don't think I'd be a good candidate for space travel. I'm very claustrophobic and there's not a lot of room in those space ships!

 #

No, not unless they figure

No, not unless they figure out a way to simulate gravity. I couldn't appreciate space if I'd constantly be spacesick. I get airsick swinging on a swing for too long.

What an experience. That

What an experience. That would be a memorable trip.  Having never travelled much this would be a definitely fascinating journey.

Yes!  What an opportunity to gain perspective that would be!

buzz aldrin

As a child, I dreamed of traveling to outer space.  I imagined riding there with the whole universe as my friend and every star a world to explore.   I tried to imagine the infinity of beginnings and a world without end.  I'm still ready to go.  Buzz Aldrin is my hero. I can't wait to see this book.  Don't tell anyone but some of my favorite books are children's books!  Sherri

Look to the Stars by Buzz Aldrin

Yes I would love to view the stars and planets where it would be so much more vivid.  I've always loved looking at the stars and wondering what else is there.

Outer Space

Yes.  Its the ulimate adventure.

travel to outer space

In a heartbeat.   The opportunity to travel into outer space, explore the stars and planets and  see the world from a different perspective would be absolutely amazing.  My son has wanted to be an astronaut since he was 2 years old.  He is now 10. We were just rereading "The Sea of Tranquility" by Mark Haddon and it totally reminded me of my parents waking us up to watch the first space watch.  It was absolutely amazing.  Watching the video clips today of the first moon walk always brings tears to my eyes. It is just a really touching, moving moment.   So of course, our whole family would like to go to outerspace.  Will put the book on my wish list.  Thanks.
