Katharine Hepburn had many nicknames. While growing-up in Connecticut she wanted to be a boy and to go by Jimmy, but everyone called her Kathy. As an adult, her close friends called her Kate. In her head she referred to herself as Kath. Of course her fans will always think of her by other names as well. She is Jo March from Little Women, Tracy Lord from The Philadelphia Story, Rose Sayer from The African Queen, and Ethel Thayer from On Golden Pond. Though nicknames and her many movie roles might make Hepburn seem familiar, she is anything but.
