booksquare (Kassia Krozser): we're thrilled you could join us! #tbc

permanentpaper (Permanence Matters): were parts of story that reminded me of "A New England Nun"--what inspirations did you have for Clara? #tbc #tbc

thebookmaven (Bethanne Patrick): thanks for joining us. Looking forward to your answers! #tbc

booksquare (Kassia Krozser): @thebookmaven: Q1 Amy: Some of us have heard about your inspiration for this novel (i.e. your uncle's mortuary). Tell a little more? #tbc

amymackinnon (Amy Mackinnon): been fascinated w/death ever since my own experience w/dyingt following the birth of my daughter. I survived. That & my uncle. #tbc

booksquare (Kassia Krozser): @permanentpaper: There were parts of story that reminded me of "A New England Nun"--what inspirations did you have for Clara? #tbc

amymackinnon (Amy Mackinnon): Clara simply started appearing to me weeks after seeing the prep room @ my uncle's funeral home. She narrated to me. #tbc

booksquare (Kassia Krozser): that's an answer begging for more information! can you tell us more? #tbc

permanentpaper (Permanence Matters): so Clara is kind of your Trecie?! #tbc

thebookmaven (Bethanne Patrick): over and join us for Twitter Book Club; @amymackinnon's telling us about her inspiration for TETHERED. #tbc

batpoet (Louise Strecker): #tbc and @amymackinnon The beyond-life section at the end was one of the most amazing and poignant things I've ever read! #tbc

Trishryan (Trish Ryan): What went through your mind as you wandered the prep room at your uncle's funeral home? #tbc

thebookmaven (Bethanne Patrick): one! RT @permanentpaper: @amymackinnon so Clara is kind of your Trecie?! #tbc

thebookmaven (Bethanne Patrick): @batpoet and @trishryan...we're going to have a lively discussion tonight! #tbc

permanentpaper (Permanence Matters): agree with @batpoet--I love the interpretation of what she saw in the afterlife. #tbc

amymackinnon (Amy Mackinnon): He spoke beautifully of his faith & he felt honored to shepherd people through death. He inspired me. #tbc

thebookmaven (Bethanne Patrick): did Clara appear then? RT @Trishryan: @amymackinnon What went thru yr mind as u wandered the prep room at uncles funeral home? #tbc

Suejustbooks (Sue Kowalski): That was the same question I had for @amymackinnon! #tbc

amymackinnon (Amy Mackinnon): I guess Clara IS my Trecie! Never considered that. Did I tell you about the envelope? #tbc

booksquare (Kassia Krozser): that's oddly (happily?) helpful to know. not that i plan to do it anytime soon #tbc

thebookmaven (Bethanne Patrick): @amymackinnon: @Trishryan He spoke beautifully of his faith & he felt honored to shepherd people through death. He inspired me. #tbc

booksquare (Kassia Krozser): @amymackinnon: @permanentpaper I guess Clara IS my Trecie! Never considered that. Did I tell you about the envelope? #tbc

BookingIt (Laura de Leon): to be back later for #tbc, need to feed family 1st. Forgot about it this month, bought book this AM. About 1/2way done, loving it. #tbc

amymackinnon (Amy Mackinnon): Thank you! All of the people named there are children of friends who've passed on. I wanted to know they were safe. #tbc

thebookmaven (Bethanne Patrick): Hello there! Is @Justbooks joining tonight, too? :) #tbc

permanentpaper (Permanence Matters): tell on the envelope!
#tbc

thebookmaven (Bethanne Patrick): Look forward to seeing you soon, totally understand about feeding the fam. :) #tbc

Trishryan (Trish Ryan): So you weren't squeamish at all? I can barely drive by the funeral home in the town I grew up in... #tbc

Suejustbooks (Sue Kowalski): usually don't care for fictional interpretations of the afterlife, but I agree, this was one of the best ones I've read. #tbc

thebookmaven (Bethanne Patrick): (although keep going, keep going...): Several reviews criticized Clara's "passivity." Um. Isn't that point? People, read the title! #tbc

Trishryan (Trish Ryan): ...but then again, it looks like a haunted house. #tbc

BrooksSigler (Brooks Sigler): Really? That is the point--she is tethered by so many things. #tbc

booksquare (Kassia Krozser): side question: anyone else seeing story differently after knowing the backstory/personal aspects? #tbc

Suejustbooks (Sue Kowalski): @justbooks is unable to be with us tonight although she and I discussed TETHERED this afternoon. #tbc

batpoet (Louise Strecker): That is so touching! It was a beautiful way for Clara to work out all her feelings for these people. #tbc

thebookmaven (Bethanne Patrick): Yes, @amymackinnon, the envelope, please! ;) #tbc

permanentpaper (Permanence Matters): appreciated the views of the life of a funeral director--with all the CSIs/others, we never see that side of death. #tbc

amymackinnon (Amy Mackinnon): I didn't know Clara's name for months. One day I told my husband I got it, moments later in an antique shop #tbc

thebookmaven (Bethanne Patrick): I know...kept wondering if reviewers were asleep at wheel (to mix metaphors). #tbc

amymackinnon (Amy Mackinnon): found an envelope with a once cent stamp addressed to Clara Marsh. It was a sign. #tbc

thebookmaven (Bethanne Patrick): Tell her she's missed! Glad you're here, though. #tbc

booksquare (Kassia Krozser): title of book RT @thebookmaven: @BrooksSigler I know...kept wondering if reviewers were asleep at wheel (to mix metaphors). #tbc

nicholebernier (Nichole Bernier): The hair-pulling is such a poignant and potent tic of her anxiety. Did it always exist, or did you grapple with others? #tbc

mockturtle17 (Sarah Trowbridge): found Clara very hard to like or sympathize with, but did enjoy her knowledge & application of the symbolic meanings of flowers #tbc #tbc

amymackinnon (Amy Mackinnon): Not squeamish at all. Death, blood, doesn't bother me. Besides, my uncle treated them with such respect. #tbc

thebookmaven (Bethanne Patrick): Hi Nichole; glad you are here; hello @mockturtle17! #tbc

BrooksSigler (Brooks Sigler): I could literally feel that tic, the sores on her head. #tbc

thebookmaven (Bethanne Patrick): @mockturtle17: I found Clara v. hard 2 like/sympathize with, but did enjoy her knowledge of the symbolic meanings of flowers #tbc #tbc

amymackinnon (Amy Mackinnon): I tried to be true to my own experience -- whether it was real or imagined. #tbc

thebookmaven (Bethanne Patrick): @nicholebernier Me too; VERY real and pertinent to character. #tbc

amymackinnon (Amy Mackinnon): Great question. Tricholltomania was introduced in a late revision, I tried cutting, but then read SHARP OBJECTS #tbc

booksquare (Kassia Krozser): side question: clara and the flowers has been mentioned a few times. where did this come from? #tbc

permanentpaper (Permanence Matters): wanted to protect Clara, just hug her--but she didn't show phys. affection until Linus died, like only in death could she show love #tbc

thebookmaven (Bethanne Patrick): (corollary of Q2): Seems there are multiple tethers, including the one connecting Clara's past & present. Does she truly break free? #tbc

batpoet (Louise Strecker): Q2 - Thankfully Clara is no stock superhero; I cherish her moments of courage & the momentous step at the end. #tbc

amymackinnon (Amy Mackinnon): Clara is one of the invisibles we all turn away from in life. She's the homeless man on the corner, that child in school- #tbc

thebookmaven (Bethanne Patrick): @amymackinnon: @nicholebernier Tricholltomania was introduced in a late revision, I tried cutting, but then read SHARP OBJECTS #tbc

BrooksSigler (Brooks Sigler): I told @thebookmaven your book reminded me of elements of SHARP OBJECTS. Something about the "injuries" to both women. #tbc

permanentpaper (Permanence Matters): SHARP OBJECTS did that so well, as did you. It was such a powerful part of both of those characters. #tbc

amymackinnon (Amy Mackinnon): you know will turn out all wrong. I wanted to force people to see their pain. #tbc

thebookmaven (Bethanne Patrick): Totally agree; she has to take such huge steps. Her passivity initially made sense to me. #tbc

thebookmaven (Bethanne Patrick): @amymackinnon: Clara is one of the invisibles we all turn away from in life, the homeless man on the corner, that child in school- #tbc

Trishryan (Trish Ryan): I love your vivid descriptions of the people around Clara. Did they come to you fully formed, or evolve as you wrote? #tbc

booksquare (Kassia Krozser): @thebookmaven: @batpoet Totally agree; she has to take such huge steps. Her passivity initially made sense to me. #tbc

permanentpaper (Permanence Matters): re: "invisibles"--she (and Trecie) reminded me of that photo from years ago of Lisa Steinberg. No one saw. #tbc

thebookmaven (Bethanne Patrick): @Trishryan: @amymackinnon I love vivid descriptions of people around Clara. Did they come fully formed, or evolve as you wrote? #tbc

amymackinnon (Amy Mackinnon): I wanted to show Clara's connection to the dead & introduce some lightness, so flowers. I knew they had meanings & so fun #tbc

amymackinnon (Amy Mackinnon): Exactly. #tbc

thebookmaven (Bethanne Patrick): Oh jeez, P2; you just made me shake involuntarily. Poor, poor Lisa. #tbc

booksquare (Kassia Krozser): thoughts about clara? i'm curious about how other readers reacted to her. #tbc

booksquare (Kassia Krozser): the language of flowers is so beautiful, and i appreciated that. #tbc

thebookmaven (Bethanne Patrick): "Connection" gets us back to Q3 about tethers in Clara's life. Could you discuss a little, please? #tbc

amymackinnon (Amy Mackinnon): Each time I introduced a character, they were physically formed. The nuances to their personalities took time - except Linus #tbc

BrooksSigler (Brooks Sigler): Flowers like flowers and herbs of Ophelia? #tbc

scarletncream (Alisa M Rosales): struggle with the role of the predictions. Says so much about faith, building suspense, and the presence of magic realism. #tbc

thebookmaven (Bethanne Patrick): @BrooksSigler: @amymackinnon Flowers like flowers and herbs of Ophelia? #tbc

amymackinnon (Amy Mackinnon): Who's Lisa Steinberg? #tbc

booksquare (Kassia Krozser): @scarletncream: I struggle with role of the predictions. Says so much about faith, building suspense, and presence of magic realism. #tbc

amymackinnon (Amy Mackinnon): The word tethered is on pg. 1 re: the connection between the heart & head. Thos two elements were always in conflict... #tbc

thebookmaven (Bethanne Patrick): Lisa Steinberg: http://snurl.com/thy1wRT @amymackinnon: @thebookmaven Whos Lisa Steinberg? #tbc

nicholebernier (Nichole Bernier): Clara struck me as haunted in every way, so to me the end fit perfectly and was a no surprise/surprise--satisfying. #tbc

thebookmaven (Bethanne Patrick): Thanks for joining; great observation. #tbc

thebookmaven (Bethanne Patrick): VERY good, v. interesting...keep going...reminds me of what was almost severed during your near-death exp. #tbc

amymackinnon (Amy Mackinnon): Also, she was tethered between this life & the next, to Trecie & Precious Doe... #tbc

booksquare (Kassia Krozser): @nicholebernier: Clara struck me as haunted in every way, so to me the end fit perfectly and was a no surprise/surprise--satisfying. #tbc

batpoet (Louise Strecker): Q3 - I guess my question is: will Mike be another tether or will he help Clara free herself? I know he loves her. #tbc

amymackinnon (Amy Mackinnon): Thanks for that! #tbc

thebookmaven (Bethanne Patrick): @batpoet: @thebookmaven Re Q3 I guess my ? is: will Mike b another tether or will he help Clara free herself? I know he loves her. #tbc

booksquare (Kassia Krozser): that gets into one of my questions (popping up later) about the trappings of genre fiction. in genre, the answer is B. #tbc

amymackinnon (Amy Mackinnon): Clara was also tethered to Dang Thuy Tram, her guide, also a real person (DIARY OF DANG THUY TRAM). I think she & Clara.. #tbc

amymackinnon (Amy Mackinnon): the same person - Clara reincarnated- but you draw your own conclusions. #tbc

thebookmaven (Bethanne Patrick): Nice connection, there. I'll ask that genre question next... #tbc

booksquare (Kassia Krozser): i live to make you work harder! i am a bad passenger. #tbc

Pegge (Pegge Bernecker): & book lovers, tune in to tweet chat! @thebookmaven Twitter Book Club w @AmyMackinnon, discussing her novel TETHERED. #tbc

TwainHouse (The Mark Twain House): going on with friend of the Mark #Twain House @amymackinnon about her book TETHERED. Follow hastag #tbc. (Not sure for how long!)

mockturtle17 (Sarah Trowbridge): you say "genre" do you mean specifically "romance"? #tbc

amymackinnon (Amy Mackinnon): LOTS of readers ask if Clara & Mike will be together. Again, as in life, after meeting someone & moving, you never know. #tbc

carleenbrice (Carleen): is tweeting about her novel Tethered #tbc. It's a good one!

thebookmaven (Bethanne Patrick): Hi there, thanks for joining...hello, @TwainHouse! Thanks for shout out. #tbc

thebookmaven (Bethanne Patrick): not at all -- in this case, mystery/suspense RT @mockturtle17: When you say "genre" do you mean specifically "romance"? #tbc

booksquare (Kassia Krozser): in this case, am thinking about mystery/suspense genre, which has its own "rules". #tbc

amymackinnon (Amy Mackinnon): Genre & answer B? #tbc

thebookmaven (Bethanne Patrick): Hello there! TETHERED really IS "a good one." :) #tbc

thebookmaven (Bethanne Patrick): I think @booksquare meant that in a straight-up genre novel, Mike and Clara would 100% wind up together. #tbc

thebookmaven (Bethanne Patrick): Q4: On the surface, this is classic genre fiction, but the text doesn't have the genre "feel". Does this novel transcend genre? #tbc

BookingIt (Laura de Leon): I'm here. Catching up on conversation so far on TETHERED. #tbc

booksquare (Kassia Krozser): @amymackinnon yes, that's what i meant. but this isn't straight-up genre, at least from my perspective. #tbc

jennifer_q85 (Mrs. Q: Book Addict): want to join #tbc for "tethered" but I'm at work...I'll be following, just not posting. That would be too obvious... Enjoying it so far.

amymackinnon (Amy Mackinnon): It was marketed as a mystery here & UK, Holland a thriller, France crime fiction, & elsewhere literary fiction. #tbc

amymackinnon (Amy Mackinnon): I think of it as a novel. #tbc

thebookmaven (Bethanne Patrick): glad you're here; thanks for joining, and no worries about not posting. #tbc

amymackinnon (Amy Mackinnon): Thank you! And thanks for all the support, friends! #tbc

thebookmaven (Bethanne Patrick): Now that is very, very interesting...glad you think of it as a novel. I do, too. #tbc

booksquare (Kassia Krozser): @amymackinnon: @thebookmaven It was marketed as mystery here&UK, Holland thriller, France crime fiction, elsewhere literary fiction. #tbc

BrooksSigler (Brooks Sigler): @thebookmaven @amymakinnon I didn't see anything "genrey" about it. #tbc

booksquare (Kassia Krozser): that would be my answer . response about how marketed around world is interesting. #tbc

thebookmaven (Bethanne Patrick): Now there's a literary term: "genrey." HA. I love it. #tbc

BookingIt (Laura de Leon): My husband asked at dinner what kind of book it was. I told him it was a literary mystery. I'm only halfway right now. #tbc

thebookmaven (Bethanne Patrick): don't want to sidetrack us from discussing TETHERED, but man, genre distinctions to me make most sense for marketing depts. #tbc

booksquare (Kassia Krozser): helps shelve the books, but often makes it harder for readers to find if they don't know where to look. always bugs me. #tbc

amymackinnon (Amy Mackinnon): I simply want readers to find a good story. #tbc

nicholebernier (Nichole Bernier): Was TETHERED your orig title, and did you have any say/nay about the cover image? It's so lovely. #tbc

thebookmaven (Bethanne Patrick): "Literary mystery" is a pretty good description of TETHERED. #tbc

thebookmaven (Bethanne Patrick): @nicholebernier: @amymackinnon Was TETHERED your orig title, and did you have any say/nay about the cover image? Its so lovely. #tbc

amymackinnon (Amy Mackinnon): It gives me a thrill when I hear people are reading it right now. #tbc

booksquare (Kassia Krozser): @thebookmaven: @BookingIt "Literary mystery" is a pretty good description of TETHERED. #tbc

Suejustbooks (Sue Kowalski): "genrey" sounds like my type of term. Kind of Pee Wee Hermany. #tbc

BrooksSigler (Brooks Sigler): Exactly! And we did find a good story. #tbc

amymackinnon (Amy Mackinnon): Tethered was always my title & I got to choose the Toni Frissell photo for the hardcover. Very lucky. #tbc

scarletncream (Alisa M Rosales): Americanized genres. TETHERED chimes to my love of Allende, Alvarez, Esquivel for building characters & complex beliefs. #tbc

thebookmaven (Bethanne Patrick): @amymackinnon: @BookingIt It gives me a thrill when I hear people are reading it right now. #tbc

BrooksSigler (Brooks Sigler): @thebookmaven I like to make up words. Helps when I'm working on my rap songs. #tbc

BookingIt (Laura de Leon): Reading and enjoying it! I'm just sorry I missed getting it on my calendar, and didn't finish by tonight. #tbc

thebookmaven (Bethanne Patrick): @scarletncream: Transcends Americanized genres. TETHERED chimes to my love of Allende, Alvarez, Esquivel... #tbc

amymackinnon (Amy Mackinnon): Don't worry, we'll talk later ! #tbc

amymackinnon (Amy Mackinnon): You're very creative! #tbc

booksquare (Kassia Krozser): as long as you have your wine, we'll let you stay in twitter book club . #tbc

thebookmaven (Bethanne Patrick): Wonderful praise for @amymackinnon. I liked how TETHERED became its own world while I was reading. #tbc

amymackinnon (Amy Mackinnon): May I steal that & hang it from my desk? #tbc

thebookmaven (Bethanne Patrick): somebody remind me if I'm on Q4 or Q5? #mavenfail #tbc

BookingIt (Laura de Leon): I told my daughter that I'm normally one of the people frustrated over not being able to discuss the ending, not tonight! #tbc

BookingIt (Laura de Leon): I didn't see a Q4 when I skimmed through the earlier conversation. #tbc

booksquare (Kassia Krozser): your q4, but *our* q5. #tbc

thebookmaven (Bethanne Patrick): pretend it's Q5: Let's talk about your dark side, @amymackinnon. I've read that it surprises people. Did it surprise you? #tbc

amymackinnon (Amy Mackinnon): Thanks, it felt like I was writing while underwater. That's another world, right? #tbc

nicholebernier (Nichole Bernier): #mavenfail. #tbc

booksquare (Kassia Krozser): think i just messed up @thebookmaven. i also can't read maps! #tbc

booksquare (Kassia Krozser): it's a fine line between discussing too much ending for those still reading and having good discussion about book. #tbc

amymackinnon (Amy Mackinnon): Hmm, dark side. My perception of the world is quite dark -- life demands blood afterall - but there's much hope too. #tbc

thebookmaven (Bethanne Patrick): Did you always "see" your own dark side? #tbc

booksquare (Kassia Krozser): @amymackinnon: Hmm, dark side. My perception of the world is quite dark -- life demands blood afterall - but theres much hope too. #tbc

amymackinnon (Amy Mackinnon): I never, ever expected to write a dark novel. My first attempt at a novel was more Desperate Housewives before there was the show. #tbc

BookingIt (Laura de Leon): Yep, I've always appreciated that in theory. Tonight I appreciate it in practice :-). #tbc

SuzeQN (Suzanne Nordfelt): I think in general women are not "allowed" to be dark #tbc

thebookmaven (Bethanne Patrick): @amymackinnon: No, I never expected to write a dark novel. My 1st attempt was more Desperate Housewives before there was the show. #tbc

amymackinnon (Amy Mackinnon): It's not my dark side, it's the way of the world. To ignore it is naive & intellectually slutty. #tbc

booksquare (Kassia Krozser): they do write dark. RT @SuzeQN: @thebookmaven I think in general women are not "allowed" to be dark #tbc

thebookmaven (Bethanne Patrick): I agree w/you, which is why it's great to see novelists like @amymackinnon and Gillian Flynn "writing dark." #tbc

thebookmaven (Bethanne Patrick): answer RT @amymackinnon: @thebookmaven Not my dark side, its the way of the world. To ignore it is naive & intellectually slutty. #tbc

amymackinnon (Amy Mackinnon): I think you're right. But that is slowly changing -- I hope. It had better. My next novel is quite dark. #tbc

booksquare (Kassia Krozser): i agree there's a perception women don't go there (despite the fact that they do). seems to surprise some when it happens. #tbc

scarletncream (Alisa M Rosales): My comment was just about the other authors -- but I agree the comment made by @thebookmaven about another world! #tbc

thebookmaven (Bethanne Patrick): @amymackinnon: @SuzeQN I think youre right. But that is slowly changing -- I hope. It had better. My next novel is quite dark. #tbc

thebookmaven (Bethanne Patrick): What can you tell us about your next novel? Anything? If not, we understand... #tbc

Trishryan (Trish Ryan): "Naive and intellectually slutty"...love your descriptions. Wondering what the opposite is? #tbc

nicholebernier (Nichole Bernier): Enright THE GATHERING was wonderfully dark, even about things women aren't supposed to be dark about--our children. #tbc

thebookmaven (Bethanne Patrick): @SuzeQN @amymackinnon I love the term "intellectually slutty" BTW, Why is that dark is ok when tied to sexuality, but not otherwise #tbc

amymackinnon (Amy Mackinnon): Flynn, Alice Munro, Margaret Atwood -- all write dark. So many more too. #tbc

BookingIt (Laura de Leon): Dark novels by women tend to have some rays of light that penetrate. Trying to think of exceptions. #tbc

booksquare (Kassia Krozser): @amymackinnon: Gillian Flynn, Alice Munro, Margaret Atwood -- all write dark. So many more too. (yes!) #tbc

amymackinnon (Amy Mackinnon): My next book is explores how we react when faced with the worst humanity has to offer. Inspired by true event, an essay- #tbc

thebookmaven (Bethanne Patrick): You're right. But I do see a new awareness of the world's essential darkness in some younger novelists like you. #tbc

amymackinnon (Amy Mackinnon): by Ian McEwan, and observation Cormac McCarthy made about Harris's Hawks. #tbc

amymackinnon (Amy Mackinnon): An exception was WE WERE THE MULLVANEYS #tbc

Hippiechick68 (Hippiechick68): a recommendation from @BrooksSigler last week and watching tonight's chat, I am convinced...I must read TETHERED. #tbc

amymackinnon (Amy Mackinnon): The opposite is honest. #tbc

thebookmaven (Bethanne Patrick): What are Harris's Hawks? Also: When will next one be released, if you can share? #tbc

thebookmaven (Bethanne Patrick): @Hippiechick68: After recommendation from @BrooksSigler last week and watching tonights chat, I am convinced. I must read TETHERED. #tbc

permanentpaper (Permanence Matters): the dark--when you think about it, women experience many of the darkest events of life, yet we can't write about them? #tbc

booksquare (Kassia Krozser): this is how we drag people to our twitter book club darkside! #tbc

OnLocustStreet (Kathleen Crowley): think the voice is fantastic -- for me, that's what made the darkness work -- dark, real, human. #TBC

thebookmaven (Bethanne Patrick): Love it; that's one of the reasons I host Twitter Book Club... #tbc

BrooksSigler (Brooks Sigler): sorry. Not trying to be a doofus, but I was just reminded of Eddie & the Cruisers and "On the Dark Side." Pardon. #tbc

amymackinnon (Amy Mackinnon): Oooh, I'm a "younger" novelist! I'm taking it. #tbc

mkindness (Michael Kindness): I was just going to make Gillian Flynn comp too,,, I think of her and @amymackinnon as kindred writers #tbc

booksquare (Kassia Krozser): because we still live in a largely victorian society. baffles me. #tbc

amymackinnon (Amy Mackinnon): I appreciate that! #tbc

zhaneel (Dawn B.): The original Dark woman: Mary Shelly! #tbc

batpoet (Louise Strecker): RT @booksquare @Hippiechick68 this is how we drag people to our twitter book club darkside! #tbc

permanentpaper (Permanence Matters): we're doing comparisons, I compared the afterlife section to what Sebold described in THE LOVELY BONES. Intsg to see diff views. #tbc

thebookmaven (Bethanne Patrick): @zhaneel: @booksquare The original Dark woman: Mary Shelly! #tbc

booksquare (Kassia Krozser): and she learned it from her mother, so to speak. but yep! #tbc

thebookmaven (Bethanne Patrick): I have to turn things over to v. capable @booksquare...first aid problem here...g'night! #tbc

Hippiechick68 (Hippiechick68): It worked! RT @booksquare: @Hippiechick68 this is how we drag people to our twitter book club darkside! #tbc

booksquare (Kassia Krozser): the wheel for a moment for q we skipped: At what point in the writing process did you realize that Clara doesn't believe in God? #tbc

BookingIt (Laura de Leon): Goodnight, hope everything is OK! Thanks for hosting. #tbc

nicholebernier (Nichole Bernier): have you read Matheson's WHAT DREAMS MAY COME? In TETHERED was often reminded of the more positive of his afterlife dichotomy. #tbc

Suejustbooks (Sue Kowalski): But I preferred the afterlife section of TETHERED to LOVELY BONES. Thought this was one of the best.#tbc

BrooksSigler (Brooks Sigler): I've read WHAT DREAMS MAY COME. Own the movie. #tbc

booksquare (Kassia Krozser): squeaking one last thought in: We try to avoid spoilers when possible, but it may not be possible with this book...1/2 #tbc

booksquare (Kassia Krozser): spoiler! Do you think Clara actually sees a ghost, or not? 2/2 #tbc

permanentpaper (Permanence Matters): completely agree with liking afterlife in TETHERED better. But LB was only bk I've read with vivid descriptions of that. #tbc

booksquare (Kassia Krozser): bad news first: no #tbc in december. good news: we're back on january 25, 2010! same time, same hashtag. #tbc

BrooksSigler (Brooks Sigler): @booksquare: so bad news first: no #tbc in december. good news: were back on january 25, 2010! same time, same hashtag. #tbc

booksquare (Kassia Krozser): looking for suggestions for january. send your ideas here: http://bit.ly/27KBrF (otherwise you read what *i* want!) #tbc

BookingIt (Laura de Leon): Do you have the January book selected yet? #tbc
